RM of Griffin’s story
The Rural Municipality of Griffin No. 66 was first incorporated on December 13, 1909, under the name RM of Hastings No. 66. Just a few weeks later, on January 30, 1910, the name was changed to the RM of Griffin No. 66.
Today the RM's office is in the community of Griffin, which is a special service area. Other communities and localities within the RM include Brough, Froude, Hume, Huntoon and Innes.
Railways have long served the area. A Canadian Pacific line, the Weyburn-Stoughton Branch, runs through Hume, Griffin and Froude, while a Canadian National line, the Boundary Subdivision, serves Brough, Griffin, Innes and Huntoon. Highway 13 crosses Griffin east to west, and Highway 606 runs north to south. The RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Tuesday of each month.
